Senior Biophysicist, Structural Biology

Our client, a leading bioscience research institution located in San Diego, California, US , is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Biophysicist specializing in Structural Biology. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking scientific discoveries at the forefront of molecular and cellular research. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of protein structure, function, and interactions, coupled with extensive experience in state-of-the-art biophysical techniques. Responsibilities: Design and execute complex biophysical experiments to elucidate the structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules. Utilize a range of techniques including X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM, NMR spectroscopy, SPR, ITC, and SAXS. Analyze and interpret large datasets to derive meaningful biological insights. Develop and optimize novel experimental methodologies and workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams of biologists, chemists, and computational scientists. Mentor junior researchers and contribute to lab management and strategic planning. Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present findings at international conferences. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and laboratory best practices. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in structural biology. Proven expertise in at least two major structural biology techniques (e.g., X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM). Strong proficiency in data analysis software and computational modeling tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Demonstrated track record of scientific publications and project leadership. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team. Experience with mammalian protein expression and purification is highly desirable. Familiarity with mass spectrometry-based proteomics and lipidomics is a plus. This hybrid role requires a strong commitment to in-person collaboration and lab work, with flexibility for remote engagement on specific tasks.
