Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and innovative Remote Chief Data Scientist to lead their Energy Analytics division. This fully remote leadership role is ideal for a seasoned professional passionate about leveraging advanced data science techniques to drive insights and strategic decisions within the energy sector. You will be responsible for defining the data science roadmap, mentoring a team of data scientists, and developing sophisticated analytical models to address complex challenges in energy forecasting, grid optimization, market analysis, and customer behavior. Key Responsibilities: Define and execute the vision and strategy for data science and advanced analytics within the energy domain. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Oversee the development and deployment of machine learning models, statistical analyses, and AI solutions for energy-related challenges (e.g., demand forecasting, renewable energy integration, predictive maintenance). Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key opportunities for data-driven decision-making and to translate business needs into analytical projects. Design and implement robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility for analytical purposes. Evaluate and adopt new technologies and methodologies in data science, machine learning, and big data to enhance analytical capabilities. Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership. Ensure ethical and responsible use of data, adhering to privacy regulations and company policies. Drive research initiatives to explore novel approaches and contribute to the company's intellectual property. Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and timelines for data science initiatives. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role, preferably within the energy sector. Proven track record of successfully developing and deploying machine learning models and analytical solutions in production environments. Expertise in various machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling techniques, and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data science libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Strong understanding of the energy industry, including energy markets, grid operations, and renewable energy technologies. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams and drive results in a distributed work environment. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data science workloads is highly desirable.
