About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global leader in innovative semiconductor solutions, delivering cutting‑edge system‑on‑chip (SoC) technologies that power the next generation of consumer, enterprise, and industrial devices. With a relentless focus on performance, power efficiency, and reliability, arenaflex empowers engineers, designers, and creators worldwide to turn bold ideas into tangible products. Our culture blends technical excellence with a collaborative spirit, encouraging every team member to push boundaries, experiment fearlessly, and shape the future of silicon.

Why This Role Matters

As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our advanced ASIC development program. You will design, simulate, and validate custom silicon blocks—ranging from SRAM memories and on‑chip sensors to machine‑learning accelerators and ultra‑low‑power regulators—that enable high‑performance, low‑power SoCs for a broad portfolio of products. Your work will directly influence the performance, power envelope, and overall user experience of devices that reach millions of customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of custom analog, mixed‑signal, and digital circuits for next‑generation ASICs, ensuring optimal trade‑offs between speed, power, and area.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, power, and verification teams to translate system specifications into detailed circuit implementations.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive simulation and measurement plans, including corner analysis, Monte‑Carlo runs, and post‑silicon validation.
  • Drive silicon bring‑up activities, troubleshoot performance issues, and iterate designs based on silicon test data.
  • Maintain rigorous design documentation, version control, and design‑for‑test (DFT) strategies to support high‑quality production releases.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies.
  • Stay current with emerging semiconductor technologies, industry standards, and design tools to keep arenaflex at the forefront of innovation.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) are a strong plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience designing custom silicon circuits in a commercial ASIC or SoC environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven track record in low‑voltage, low‑power circuit design, including SRAM, analog front‑ends, on‑chip sensors, and power management blocks.
  • Tool Proficiency: Mastery of industry‑standard EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys Custom Designer) and simulation environments (Spectre, HSPICE, Verilog‑AMS).
  • Programming Skills: Strong scripting abilities in Python, Perl, or Tcl for automation of design flows, data analysis, and test generation.
  • Physical Insight: Deep understanding of sub‑micron device physics, noise sources (1/f, thermal), and their impact on circuit performance.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to lead root‑cause analysis during silicon debug, interpret measurement data, and propose corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI accelerators, high‑speed data converters (ADC/DAC), or time‑to‑digital converters (TDCs).
  • Familiarity with mixed‑signal verification methodologies, including UVM‑MS and SystemVerilog testbenches.
  • Background in low‑power design techniques such as power gating, dynamic voltage scaling, and adaptive body biasing.
  • Contributions to published papers, patents, or open‑source projects in the semiconductor domain.
  • Exposure to multi‑project wafer (MPW) programs and foundry collaboration processes.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex specifications into manageable design blocks and evaluate trade‑offs rigorously.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams across multiple time zones.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal articulation of design decisions, test results, and risk assessments to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfort operating in a fast‑paced environment where priorities shift based on product timelines and market demands.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous documentation and verification to ensure design integrity throughout the product lifecycle.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its engineers. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior architects and industry veterans.
  • Sponsored attendance at premier conferences such as ISSCC, DAC, and Hot Chips.
  • Internal training programs covering advanced analog design, machine learning hardware, and emerging process technologies.
  • Opportunities to lead high‑visibility projects that directly influence product roadmaps and market success.
  • A clear promotion pathway from Engineer to Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, and eventually Technical Fellow or Engineering Manager.
