About arenaflex – Pioneering Data‑Driven Innovation

arenaflex is a global leader in advanced data science, helping organizations turn massive, complex data sets into actionable insights. Our mission is to design cutting‑edge research methodologies, build robust data pipelines, and deliver powerful analytics tools that empower businesses, governments, and academic partners to solve their most critical challenges. With a collaborative culture that blends technical brilliance with entrepreneurial spirit, arenaflex offers a platform where data engineers can thrive, innovate, and make a tangible impact on the world.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Engineer on our rapidly expanding team, you will be at the heart of arenaflex’s data ecosystem. You’ll design, implement, and maintain production‑grade data pipelines that feed machine‑learning models used by federal agencies and commercial clients alike. Your work will directly influence the efficiency of our data‑driven products, accelerate time‑to‑insight, and support the strategic growth of arenaflex’s US Federal Market division.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑end pipeline development: Architect, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions that support both batch and real‑time processing.
  • Collaboration with core IT: Partner closely with arenaflex’s central IT and cloud teams to ensure seamless integration of data services, security controls, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Technology implementation: Lead the adoption of modern data‑engineering tools (e.g., Cloudera, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Spark, Hadoop) to enhance performance and reliability for federal market projects.
  • Best‑practice enforcement: Establish and enforce data‑engineering standards, coding conventions, and documentation practices that align with industry regulations and internal governance.
  • Production support & monitoring: Implement robust observability, alerting, and incident‑response processes to guarantee high availability of data pipelines.
  • Mentorship & knowledge sharing: Coach junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the data engineering team.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Translate business requirements from federal clients into technical specifications, ensuring that data solutions meet compliance and security mandates.
  • Innovation & research: Explore emerging technologies, prototype new data‑processing patterns, and contribute to arenaflex’s thought leadership in big‑data analytics.

Essential Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data engineering within an enterprise environment.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting scalable data pipelines in production.
  • Proficiency with data‑warehouse technologies, relational databases, JSON, and big‑data platforms such as Apache Hive, Spark, or Hadoop.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; familiarity with Scala or Java is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Cloudera platform and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Prior exposure to U.S. federal agency data environments, including knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Understanding of machine‑learning lifecycle management (MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar).
  • Familiarity with streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
  • Certification in data‑engineering or cloud architecture (e.g., Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect large, unstructured data sets and design efficient processing workflows.
  • Problem‑solving agility: Quickly identify bottlene‑cks, troubleshoot failures, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including data scientists, product managers, and security officers.
  • Leadership: Inspire peers, champion best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in an evolving technology landscape and embrace new tools and methodologies.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in employee development. As a senior data engineer, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship programs with industry veterans and senior architects.
  • Annual tuition reimbursement for advanced degrees or certifications.
  • Internal hackathons, data‑science bootcamps, and speaker series.
  • Opportunities to lead cross‑functional projects that influence company‑wide strategy.
  • Clear promotion pathways from senior engineer to principal architect, technical lead, or data‑strategy director.
