Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Senior ML Engineering & Data Infrastructure Lead to join our Data Engineering team. This critical role will be responsible for enterprise-wide Machine Learning engineering and Platform environment development. You'll bring an elevated level of technical expertise in building enterprise-wide big data infrastructure and serve as the subject matter expert across all phases of the data and software lifecycle management processes.

As a leader within our Advanced Technology group, you'll collaborate with colleagues, data scientists, and ML engineers to design and enable key subsystems of our Data Platform, optimize operational critical metrics, and establish processes and best practices that drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams and division leaders/partners to deliver innovative technical solutions that enable business capabilities and drive digital transformation
• Design and develop advanced batch and streaming data applications using AWS technologies. Support large-scale data pipelines in a distributed and scalable cloud environment
• Enable and optimize production AWS environment for data infrastructure and frameworks, ensuring high availability and performance
• Establish containers and Serverless platform with cloud infrastructure using modern deployment methodologies
• Provide technical leadership and direction to the team, guide them in resolving complex questions and technical issues
• Architect and implement data quality solutions using industry-leading tools and frameworks
• Drive innovation by exploring emerging technologies and recommending improvements to existing systems
• Mentor and develop junior team members through knowledge sharing and technical guidance

Technical Requirements

Essential Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, ML engineering, or related technical roles
• 4+ years of professional experience managing infrastructure and data pipelines using Cloud Formation, Terraform, PySpark, Apache Spark, or similar technologies
• 2+ years of experience leading a team that designs, engineers, or supports solutions on AWS
• Working knowledge of core AWS technologies: EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, Glue, SNS, and others
• General familiarity with additional AWS services and ecosystem tools
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools, SQL, Python, Scala, version control systems (Git), and project management tools (JIRA)
• Hands-on experience with object-oriented programming languages
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications (What Will Help You Stand Out)

• AWS Certification – Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar credentials
• Experience with Data Quality tools – Great Expectations, Deequ, or comparable frameworks
• Strong knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Background in airline, travel, or transportation industry
• Experience with real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink)
• Knowledge of MLOps practices and ML lifecycle management
