Role Overview – Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Management team. This role is perfect for candidates who are eager to dive into the convergence of distributed computing, massive data analysis, and security services—no prior industry experience required. You will be instrumental in shaping the vision and execution of our Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Security platforms, ensuring that data is reliable, secure, and readily available for a variety of business and AI use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load (ETL) large‑scale datasets from diverse sources into our centralized data platforms.
  • Architect scalable data models for both relational and non‑relational storage solutions, optimizing for performance, cost, and security.
  • Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, and data scientists to translate business requirements into robust data solutions that power analytics, reporting, and machine‑learning workflows.
  • Maintain and enhance data quality frameworks, implementing automated testing, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee data integrity across the ecosystem.
  • Lead data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and cross‑functional teams on data best practices, coding standards, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and cloud‑native services, recommending strategic adoption to keep arenaflex at the forefront of data innovation.
  • Document architecture, processes, and data lineage to provide clear visibility for stakeholders and support future scalability.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong foundation in relational database concepts and proficiency with SQL for querying, data manipulation, and performance tuning.
  • Hands‑on experience building ETL pipelines using modern data integration tools or custom code.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for data engineering, such as Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams, communicating complex technical ideas to non‑technical audiences.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and a proactive mindset toward solving ambiguous problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big‑data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR) and distributed processing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
  • Background in data security, encryption, and compliance standards such as GDPR or CCPA.
  • Exposure to machine‑learning pipelines, data science workflows, or AI model deployment.
  • Prior experience mentoring peers or leading technical workshops.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and devise elegant solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: Comfortable navigating ambiguous requirements and delivering reliable outcomes under tight timelines.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and persuasive communication style for both written documentation and verbal presentations.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift and new challenges emerge daily.
  • Ownership: Take full responsibility for the health, performance, and security of data assets you design and maintain.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

arenaflex offers a competitive hourly rate of $25 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Full‑coverage health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your eligible dependents.
