Position Overview: Senior Healthcare Call Center Representative
arenaflex is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Healthcare Call Center Representative to join our remote team. In this crucial role, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, handling high-volume customer inquiries, managing prescription data entry, and resolving third-party rejections. This full-time position offers competitive compensation of $25-$35 per hour and provides an excellent opportunity to develop your career in the healthcare customer service field.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Data Management & Prescription Processing
- Utilize arenaflex's prescription data entry procedures and guidelines to process new patient enrollment by accurately entering data into appropriate systems
- Handle patient prescription requests within HIPAA compliance guidelines and enter refill orders for processing
- Investigate to obtain missing prescription information and interpret clinical abbreviations (SIG codes)
- Resolve all data entry-related exceptions and ensure data accuracy
- Maintain confidential patient information with the highest level of security and professionalism
Customer Communication & Support
- Handle all patient communications including inbound calls, visits, and emails
- Make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed on a case-by-case basis
- Provide clear, accurate information about medications, prescription status, and healthcare services
- Resolve patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism, ensuring high-quality service standards
Third-Party Resolution & Collaboration
- Resolve third-party rejections by reviewing, gathering information, creating prescriptions, and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements
- Make phone calls to insurance companies and other entities to obtain information, gain override approval, or otherwise resolve the third-party rejections
- Collaborate with pharmacists both in-office and at other locations to resolve complex cases
- Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate
Compliance & Professional Development
- Obtain and maintain an active pharmacy technician license or certification within the first 90 days of employment
- Follow all state and federal guidelines for information section and patient registration
- Work under direct management while meeting performance goals and quality standards
- Stay current with industry changes, healthcare regulations, and arenaflex policies
Essential Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
Technical Skills
- Basic computer skills including startup and shutdown procedures, mouse navigation, opening/closing programs, switching between applications, saving files, printing documents, and accessing information online
- Basic internet skills including opening browsers, entering URLs, using search engines, bookmarking websites, navigating with back/forward/stop buttons, and completing online forms
- Intermediate keyboarding skills (minimum 25 WPM, touch typing, file organization)
Communication Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to convey complex healthcare information in clear, simple terms
- Excellent active listening skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or call center environment
- At least 1.5 years as a pharmacy technician with certification/registration by the State Board of Pharmacies or nationally recognized certification agency
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients
- Experience meeting quality service standards and consumer satisfaction evaluation
Advanced Skills
- Intermediate to advanced keyboarding skills (minimum 35 WPM, touch typing, document organization)
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
- Experience with pharmacy management software systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare privacy regulations
