This remote, full‑time role offers a competitive rate of $26 per hour and the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. You will partner with cross‑functional teams—including analysts, product partners, and business leaders—to translate complex business challenges into data‑centric solutions that drive revenue, improve customer experiences, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the Data Science function, focusing on omni‑channel analytics across brick‑and‑mortar stores and online platforms.
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives by collaborating with analysts, product partners, and business stakeholders to develop roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Translate high‑level business requirements into precise data product specifications, ensuring clear guidance for implementation teams.
  • Facilitate design‑review sessions, aligning technical approaches with business drivers, constraints, and long‑term goals.
  • Architect robust data pipelines using modern tools and cloud platforms to ingest, transform, and serve data for analytical workloads.
  • Establish and champion best practices for the Data Science team, including code reviews, model governance, and reproducibility standards.
  • Create compelling visualizations, dashboards, and storytelling artifacts that communicate insights to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Apply advanced statistical, machine learning, and AI techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, causal inference, time‑series forecasting) to uncover actionable insights.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and collaboration.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience building predictive, statistical, or AI models that solve real‑world business problems, preferably within a retail or consumer‑goods environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in web analytics and customer segmentation, leveraging data to drive product and marketing decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead small, fast‑paced teams in delivering high‑quality data analyses, feature engineering, and model development.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a track record of translating ambiguous business challenges into data‑driven stories and solutions.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and familiarity with modern data engineering tools.
  • Solid foundation in AI/ML methodologies, including supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Experience with data pipeline and ETL tools such as SQL, SSIS, Alteryx, KNIME, or Tableau Prep.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of data warehouse technologies like Snowflake and SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, VBA) and data‑science languages (R, SAS, Python for Data Science).
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn).
  • Exposure to advanced statistical techniques: hypothesis testing, p‑values, causal inference, random forest, gradient boosting, ARIMA, and time‑series analysis.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and ability to thrive in rapidly evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated success in building production‑grade models that scale to millions of users and transactions.

Core Competencies & Personal Attributes

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect large, complex datasets and extract meaningful patterns.
  • Strategic Thinking: Vision to align data initiatives with broader business goals.
  • Collaboration: Strong relational skills for effective teamwork and cross‑departmental partnership.
  • Adaptability: Comfort navigating fast‑changing priorities and ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Leadership: Passion for mentoring and developing junior talent while fostering a culture of excellence.
