Mott MacDonald is a leading employee-owned company providing engineering, management, and development services across various sectors. They are currently seeking a Civil Engineer - Inspector to assist with monitoring daily construction activities and ensuring compliance with standards in transportation projects, particularly highway and bridge construction.

Responsibilities

• Candidate will report to senior level inspection staff and assist with monitoring of daily construction activities, tracking and reporting quantity usage, and preparing daily work reports as needed
• Verify conformance of materials supplied by contractor with standard specifications and contract documents
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications on projects as needed
• Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary

Skills

• 0-5 years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects
• Proficiency in collecting data, interpreting plans, conducting field measurements, performing calculations, and documenting work performed by contractor
• Proficiency with standard software applications and ability to learn new programs
• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology
• Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills
• Have valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
• Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary
• Interest in a diverse range of construction projects including but not limited to bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects
• Detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks at a time
• Possess appropriate level of education and/or experience
