They are seeking a Trial Attorney to join their Texas First-Party Property/CAT team, where the attorney will manage insurance defense litigation, provide counsel to business clients, and monitor legal regulations. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients
  • Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
  • Interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal work

Skills

  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar
  • Successful candidates will obtain Southern District of Texas federal licensure as soon as is practical
  • Best suited for individuals early in their professional journey who are eager to develop courtroom and litigation experience
  • Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process
  • Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions
  • Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct
  • Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions
  • Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout the greater McAllen, Texas area
