As a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining all critical plant equipment and raised floor systems within our enterprise data centers. This encompasses supporting the layout of raised floors, power and network availability management, and comprehensive inventory control. You'll leverage your skills, experience, and talents to be part of visionary objectives and pivotal decision-making processes that keep our operations running smoothly around the clock.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and engaging, requiring both technical expertise and strong problem-solving abilities. Here's what you can expect to own:

  • Escalation Point for Incident Management: Serve as the primary escalation point for incident management related to power and cooling systems. You'll be the go-to person when critical issues arise, requiring you to think quickly on your feet and coordinate effective solutions under pressure.
  • Operational Procedures Development: Create and maintain functional procedures for staff and vendor maintenance activities. Your documentation will ensure consistency, safety, and efficiency across all shifts and teams.
  • Vendor Maintenance Oversight: Schedule, track, and provide comprehensive oversight to vendor maintenance activities. You'll work closely with external partners to ensure all work meets arenaflex's rigorous standards and is completed on time and within budget.
  • Best Practices and Standards: Establish data center best practices and industry-standard protocols. Your expertise will help shape how we operate and will influence standards that others will follow.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs within your team and provide instruction and guidance to colleagues. You'll help develop the next generation of data center professionals through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • Shift Coverage: Cover open operations on the occasion that specialist plans cannot be refilled. Flexibility and willingness to step in during peak periods or emergencies is essential.
  • Reliability Analysis: Analyze data center reliability patterns and identify potential risks before they become issues. Your proactive approach will help prevent downtime and protect business continuity.
  • Issue Resolution Support: Support issue management to assist with resolving equipment, operational, and application issues related to power and cooling gear. You'll work alongside cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Capacity Management: Assist with data center capacity management, ensuring we have the right resources in the right places at the right times.
  • Project Contribution: Contribute to development activities, ensuring both structural and operational requirements are met. Your input will help shape the future of our infrastructure.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should bring:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience will also be considered, so don't hesitate to apply if you have relevant practical knowledge.
  • Technical Experience: A minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in environments containing electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and UPS systems. Hands-on experience with critical infrastructure is highly valued.
  • Advanced Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of advanced engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, and troubleshooting as required by the space. You should be comfortable working with complex systems and understanding their interdependencies.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: The ability to maintain technical knowledge within your subject matter specialties. You'll be expected to stay current with industry developments and share insights with your team.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying current with new and evolving technologies through appropriate training and independent instruction. The data center industry never stops evolving, and neither should you.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, these additional qualifications will help you stand out:

  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise data centers or mission-critical facilities
  • Certifications in data center design, facilities management, or related disciplines
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as BICSI, TIA, or Uptime Institute guidelines
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (NEC, NFPA, OSHA)
